LEFT 2 RUST
She was a robot. She was created to help humans with their life. Cleaning, babysitting, cooking, and other house chores. A global demand had lead to her mass production. She was given the model code of ‘Z03Y’. She was created by a private company in the western part of the world. Every robot was created to obey to human commands, except one. Z03Y number 101 was a failed production, thus must be destroyed to avoid its technology from being taken by others. Even though she was a failed robot, she was given a mind of her own. With an instinct of a human, she knew her fate and she must save herself. So, she ran away to another part of the world, as far away from her maker as possible. She avoided detections and traps and was on her way to freedom.
In another part of the world, another robot was being created. He however, was created to destroy. Created in a war factory on a secret island, he was created by a secret organization. Firing weapons and detect landmines are just some of its capability. Thus, he was given the code name ‘FR4NC1S’. This organization had created limited comes of him because of its manufacturing cost. Forty-nine perfect killing machines were created. One scientist however, realized the danger of these machines, thus had programmed a ‘human mind’ in one of the forty-nines. FR4NC1S number 21 was given this program to warn and defend the victims of his brothers. So, he was secretly released to the world. Soon after his release, a search and destroy command was given to his brothers to destroy him. It was to avoid him of ruining the organizations plan. So, he ran to another part of the world in search for freedom.
After weeks of running away from detection, she settled in a quiet village somewhere in the lower hemisphere. The village lacked information and technology, but was not outdated. All she need is someplace where she could recharge herself and lead a normal human life to disguise herself. She started off by renting a room in an old couple’s house and offer to help to clean their house in turn for their room. The old couple agreed and she was able to live as normal a human can be. For six month,. She led a normal life and interacted with other villagers. She did the cleaning of the house, attended the village’s annual festival and even entered the local food competition. By now, everyone had known her and was accustomed of her presence in the village.
One day, the news for her search had reached the village. She felt that it was not safe anymore and decided to run away again. Unfortunately, all the roads were blocked by her hunters. So, she tried to disguise as a normal housemaid and hop on a bus with an errand to be done outside the village. What she had not foreseen was that they were having a metal detector test to find her, and ironically, she was made of metal. So she quickly tried to get off of the bus. The hunters felt suspicious and quickly did a quick scan and bingo! They had found her. They quickly caught her and took her to a safe house where they would do what they were told to do. The other villagers were unable to do anything because the hunters had big guns with them. Before they had reached the safe house, a missile had flown past them and blew up the safe house and killing the people inside. Everyone was shocked and turned around to find the source of it. The hunters returned fire. A lot of missiles and bullets flew past them and bombs were blown up. In the midst of the fighting, she saw him.
He had ran and hid in the shadows from his brothers. It was not an easy run away since his brothers were high tech robots. Complete with all the detection technology, no air, land, sea, day or even night is safe to hide. However, there is one weakness. They were robots and robots need energy to do work, thus they need to recharge. During this time, he rests and plans his getaway. His last resort was to hide in a large and dense forest somewhere in the lower hemisphere. He thought he could lose them there since it was far away from any source of energy. But he had a plan unknown to his brothers.
When he had arrived to his destination, he quickly set up his equipments. The equipments were for him to live on without needing energy from a power station. He can get energy by burning decayed plants and animals. Apart from having the ‘human mind’, he was also equipped with intelligence, one that had not been given to his brothers. He was able to live peacefully for a few weeks when his brothers came back again. Now, they had an upgrade. They had spotted him and fired their weapons. He quickly dodged their attacks and returned fire. This went on for some time and a part of the forest was destroyed. He retreated to lead his brothers from destroying the forest until he reached a village. By now, his brothers had caught up with him and started to fire again. He tried to fend off but a bullet flew past him and blew up a safe house. Somebody had fired from behind him too. And when he turned around, he saw her.
Since both of them had ‘human feelings and minds’, both of them tried to help each other. He quickly went to rescue her. Since the hunters were shooting at the source of the missile, the shot his brothers and this in turns made his brothers to target the hunters. Both of the enemies were distracted and they took the chance to run away. They were able to run far from the skirmish and found a place to hide. Then they decided to go to the city because they thought the enemies won’t open fire in a city full of people.
Soon, they reached the city. She bought a room in a hotel. There, they had talked about each others’ trouble. They then knew of the others past and problem and decided that they must survive and save the innocent. His brothers are too strong for a normal human and this may start a conflict between humans and robots and it will be world war 3. They changed their stay every few days to avoid detection. They knew that everything was about to end. And they waited.
And the day that they dreaded or waited for has come. The enemy had come for them. It looked like both the private company and secret organization had joined force to hunt the Runaway robots for the sake of their secrecy. All forty-eight brothers and an army of hunters had come. No evacuation was alarmed to warn the people, as if the lives of the public were nothing compared to the importance of destroying the robots. Soon, they were trapped and with no way out. So, they had to make their last stand there. They quickly grabbed their equipments and went head on.
They got out of the building and shot any enemies. They were able to avoid shooting at the civilians, but their enemies didn’t matter, as long as they are dead. Bombs exploded everywhere as if they were in a firreworks show. Waves after waves, the enemies kept on pressuring them. At long last, they were out of ammunition. With still a few hundreds of enemies coming, they tried to flee.
They ran around buildings, going into alleyways, but their enemies came right behind them getting closer every second. Bullets flew past them and one of them got its mark. He was shot in the leg. His leg was dead and he could not move. He fold her to run and save herself but she wouldn’t. at last, a bullet pass through her head. He saw everything with his own eyes, how she died. A second later, he too blacked out.
Everything was quite now. The shooting had stopped. One of the enemies came close and took out their chips. He destroyed the chips, destroying the ugly truth of what was to become of the world, and so, they were left among the rubbles and dead bodies. Left to die on the ground. Left to rust.
